Top 10 Restaurants for Families at Walt Disney World.

So you are in Walt Disney World, kids in tow and you need to eat but don’t want the normal hassle of trying to eat a nice meal while the kids play up because they are bored? Well here we have 10 suggestions as to where to get that scrummy meal without the kids being bored! But don’t forget some of the restaurants get booked up quick so make sure you know when your 180 day mark is so you can get booking!

  • The Crystal Palace – Magic Kingdom

Always fancied breakfast with Winnie the Pooh & Friends? Well at The Crystal Palace at the top of Main Street U.S.A. in the Magic Kingdom you can do just that. It doesn’t have to be breakfast though; there is also a lunch and dinner service at this restaurant. It is a massively popular choice for those with kids who are 5 and under, it is also a great choice if you want to take a bit of time out at lunch time and have a sit down and refuel before you crack on with those rides in the afternoon! The food is great for families as it is a buffet service restaurant so you can eat as much or as little as possible. If you are looking to get one of those all important castle shots with no one around you, this is one of the Magic Kingdom restaurants we would advise you to try and get an 8am breakfast reservation for, you will be allowed in the park a little before and there will only be other people with reservations in the park as well. Reservations for this restaurant are a must if you want to eat at the popular times of the day though.

  • Hollywood & Vine – Hollywood Studios

This is another great one for the 5 and under’s as at Hollywood & Vine you get to meet some of the amazing Disney Junior characters!!! There are also 3 seasonal dining events, Minnie’s Summertime Dine, Minnie’s Halloween Dine & Minnie’s Holiday Dine. At the seasonal dining events you will get to meet Minnie, Mickey, Daisy, Donald and Goofy and at the Disney Junior Play ‘n’ Dine breakfast and lunch services you will get to meet some of the Disney Junior friends from Doc McStuffins, Jake & The Never Land Pirates, Sofia the First and Handy Manny!!! This is a buffet style restaurant serving Mickey waffles, made-to-order omelettes, pastries and more at breakfast and for lunch and dinner enjoy yummy pastas, meats, baked chickens and lots more, before stuffing your face from the ice cream sundae station!!!Be aware though if you are dining when there is a Minnie seasonal dining event on the Disney Junior Play ‘n’ Dine will only be available at breakfast. You can also enjoy one of the Minnie’s seasonal dining events as part of the Fantasmic Dining Package!

  • T-Rex – Disney Springs

We love this place and it always a must do for our family! You can sit in different eras of the dinosaur ages and dine amongst some of the most amazing life-sized animatronic dinosaurs you will ever see – including a 15 foot tall T-Rex! And every 20 minutes you will become part of a meteor shower complete with rumblings and explosions! It truly is an immersive experience! And don’t forget to check out the humongous fish tank behind the bar! The food is your typical, burgers, chicken and steaks but all with themed names and if you are feeling up for it you can finish your meal off with the Chocolate Extinction! Don’t forget to check out the shop as you leave where if the kids want the can build their own cuddly Dinosaur!

  • The Garden Grill Restaurant – EPCOT

The Garden Grill restaurant is located in the Land Pavilion in EPCOT and here is where you can eat food that is actually grown inside EPCOT! At lunch and dinner you will be joined by Chip ‘N’ Dale in the restaurant which rotates you around the scenes from Living with the Land ride! We recommend booking in advance for this as it is a really popular restaurant! The Garden Grill’s menu is packed with fresh salads, pot roasts and a “sustainable fish of the day” option!

  • Be Our Guest – Magic Kingdom

Who wouldn’t want to dine in the Beast’s castle?? With 3 different areas to dine in – The grand ballroom, the west wing and the castle gallery and three different menus to choose from! Breakfast and Lunch are both quick service meals and Dinner is a table service meal with the opportunity to meet the Beast afterwards as well. The menu is definitely inspired by French cuisine but there is something for everyone! If you manage to dine in the west wing make sure you keep an eye on the Prince’s portrait. Be warned reservations are hard to come by and this is a must book for anyone even thinking about dining here and there is an order ahead service for those dining at breakfast or lunch 30 days prior to your reservation. And lastly don’t forget to try the grey stuff..... it’s delicious!

  • Cinderella’s Royal Table – Magic Kingdom/Akershus Royal Banquet Hall – EPCOT

Ok so let’s start with the big one!! Cinderella’s Royal Table situated in the heart of the Magic Kingdom Park – the castle!!!! On arrival you will be greeted by Cinderella herself before you ascend the staircase to the banquet hall well you will be joined by more of your favourite princesses! The character appearances can change from time to time. Young guests are encouraged to dress up for this occasion but it is a dining experience that commonly follows a trip to the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique for a lot of young guests! If it’s that special meal for two that might just include a proposal you can turn this dining into an unforgettable occasion  with the glass slipper engagement (if you wish to book this you need to contact the special events office at least 72 hours prior to reservation!). Again this is a must must must for reservations, so you need to be making these at that all important 180 day mark!

Now on to Akershus Royal Banquet Hall! Dine in a medieval castle and be joined by your favourite storybook princesses for autographs and photos! Breakfast is your normal American favourites and lunch and dinner is a Norwegian-inspired fare with a rotating menu of hot entrees! Akershus is a sure fire second to Cinderella’s Royal Table if you can’t snag that reservation, with some people even preferring it for various different reasons!

So there you have it! What we think our the top 10 (or 11 in this case!) restaurants for families at Walt Disney World! Have any of you got any other favourites or have been to any of these and have something to add to what we have already??
