Top 10 rides for toddlers at Walt Disney World

There are so many rides to choose from at Walt Disney World that you might wonder where to begin! A good place to start is by finding out all of the height requirements (which you can do here) as you wouldn’t want anyone getting excited by a ride and then discovering that they can’t go on it! Another little tip we have picked up along the way as well is showing your toddler some of the rides on YouTube. It is a great way to get them used to the idea of rides! Here we give you a bit of a lowdown on what we think are the top 10 rides for toddlers!

  • Prince Charming Regal Carousel - Magic Kingdom

Climb aboard the most beautiful carousel you have ever seen and enjoy a 360° view of Fantasyland as you enjoy this slow moving ride that any toddler will love! Please be aware though that this ride is slow loading and the queues can become quite long so we recommend riding first thing in the morning or last thing at night.

  • Many Adventures of Winnie The Pooh - Magic Kingdom

This ride is a must for any Winnie the Pooh fan! Take your seat in a giant hunny pot and immerse yourself in the pages of a classic Winnie the Pooh story. Travel through the hundred acre wood on a blustery day, then bounce with Tigger, and then join Winnie the Pooh in one of his dreams and awaken in a rainy place and finish by celebrating with a party for Pooh! It’s a fun filled adventure that toddlers love and the fastpass tickets for this are normally gone by early afternoon so make sure you get yours if this is a must rid for your family! Don’t panic if you don’t get your fastpass as the queue for this ride is an interactive one, with a hunny wall for you to draw on, rabbits garden to play in and piglets house and Eeyore’s gloomy place, there will be something to keep the little ones entertained all the way to the ride itself!

  • Affection Section - Animal Kingdom

If your little one loves animals then this is somewhere you can spend hours! Board the Wildlife Express Train to Rafikis Planet Watch where at the Affection Section you can brush, feed and pet domesticated creatures that may include goats, donkeys, cows, pigs and sheep. Guests are encouraged to keep clean by washing hands before entering and when leaving the Affection Section. Whilst there you can visit the Conservation Station where you can take a look at the different animal habitats from around the world and discover the care that the park animals receive!

  • The Seas With Nemo & Friends - EPCOT

Board a clamobile and help find Nemo! Take a dive down under the waves where you will join Mr. Ray and the rest of the class along with other well known characters from Finding Nemo to find the ever elusive Nemo! Your underwater adventure will come to a musical end where the cast of Finding Nemo join real fish in a massive 5.7 million gallon aquarium! After enjoying the ride you can enjoy walking around the aquarium looking at all different kinds of species that live under the sea!!!

  • Disney Junior Live on Stage - Hollywood Studios

Is Disney Junior your little ones favourite TV channel to watch? Then this could be the perfect attraction for them! Featuring characters from Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Sofia the First, Doc McStuffins and Jake and the Neverland Pirates and with a special host to lead the fun, let your little ones get up, clap and dance there little hearts away with their favourite characters on stage! Performances are most days but do check either the My Disney Experience app or the time guides when entering the park!

  • Dumbo The Flying Elephant - Magic Kingdom

This is definitely one that appeals to the little ones and gets very busy and so has a circus themed play area while you queue and it’s indoors which is perfect if you need a break from that intense Floridian sun!! When you arrive you will receive a pager that holds your place in line so the kids can go and explore the nice air-conditioned playground! When your ride is ready, board a flying elephant and take in the view of Storybook Circus while your little ones decide how you are going to ride by moving the handle inside the elephant and ride high in the sky or low to the ground!! There are other rides like this at Magic Kingdom which include Astro Orbiter and Magic Carpets of Aladdin, although these do not have the play area while you queue.

  • Mad Tea Party - Magic Kingdom

You can celebrate your un-birthday with the mad-hatter and the gang by pouring yourself into a giant teacup and spinning as fast or as slow as you like! Each teacup will hold up to 5 people but are notoriously harder to spin the more people you have in them! If you are not one for spinning then we suggest leaving the wheel in the centre of the teacup well alone however the teacups do automatically spin on the turntable they are loaded on! Also a word of warning to parents with teenagers – avoid this ride if possible with them, they will make it their own personal job to make you as dizzy and sick as possible!! This ride is a lovely introduction to spinning rides for the little ones as you can make it as gentle as possible to begin with and then start to build up a bit more speed! Our little boy loves being in control of how fast he can spin the teacup!

  • Under The Sea – Journey of The Little Mermaid - Magic Kingdom

This ride is like The Seas with Nemo & Friends at EPCOT, but this time this retells the story of how one mermaid found true love! Board a clamshell to relive the magical moments from The Little Mermaid underwater. You will get to visit Ariel’s grotto and travel through a crab-conducted bandstand all whilst hearing your favourite songs from the movie! But watch out for Ursula the sea witch – she stands tall at a whopping 7 and a half foot!! After you have come back to shore you can visit Ariel in her grotto for autographs and photos. And don’t forget to check out Voyage of The Little Mermaid when you head to Hollywood Studios!

  • Frozen Ever After -EPCOT

Set sail on a boat for a trip around Arendelle to the sound of your favourite songs from the hit film Frozen! You will rub shoulders with Kristoff’s troll family, before climbing up the North Mountain, where Queen Elsa’s ice palace awaits you and to finish hang on tight as you slide back down to the bay of Arendelle to celebrate a summer snow day in style. Then when you hop back onto land you are invited to meet Anna and Elsa at the Royal Soomerhus located inside the Norway Pavilion!

  • Triceratop Spin - Animal Kingdom

This ride is just like Dumbo the Flying Elephant at Magic Kingdom. You can spin above the ground in your very own triceratop!! With more of a carnival theme and festival music playing overhead see if you can catch a glimpse of the baby dinosaurs balance balls! Triceratop Spin is part of Chester & Hester’s Dino-Rama in Dinoland U.S.A in Animal Kingdom!

There is no doubt about it that Magic Kingdom is the most toddler-friendly of all the parks but remember there is something for everyone at each and every park! And parents – don’t forget to use that all important Rider Swap when touring with little ones!!!
